I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Psalm 27:13
This has been a season of seeking, this forty day stretch sometimes known as the Great Fast. We call it the season of Lent. In a microcosm this season is a picture of that season of seeking our Savior our whole lives long. We are a seeking people! We are called to follow our Lord through all time of trial and testing. We are never alone.
Over the weeks of this season we have prayed the Preface prayer, giving thanks for the one who overcame the assaults of the devil and in so doing gave his life as a ransom for many. It reminds that he accomplished this for us so that with cleansed hearts we might be prepared joyfully to celebrate the Paschal feast in sincerity and truth. We prepare in faith for this Paschal - Easter feast.
So it is that as we are a seeking people, we are also his Easter people. Our Lord has said, seek and you shall find. We look forward to this season of his revealing! Our Lord rose again on the day of the sun. On that first day he rose to life in recreating power, promising a new and eternal day to come! During these weeks there will be an Easter theme as we celebrate our Lord's risen presence. This reminds of the eternal theme still to be revealed, that season of our Savior that will last forever in glory. For the light of the knowledge of the glory of God has shown in the face of Christ and in our own lives! The Sunrise from on high now shines upon us. So, we live today in anticipation of that eternal day.
May the Lord cleanse our hearts as we prepare for this Paschal - Easter feast. May he forgive our sin and renew in us a sincere and true faith in our Savior. In all time of trial, in all time of testing let us hope in the things not yet seen. Let us trust in the promises of our Savior and not lose heart. Indeed, as the psalmist says, let us believe that we will see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living!
